A Very
Brief History of
The South Austin Culture Club

Defending South Austin
Against Becoming Downtown
Don't get us wrong,
people in South Austin love downtown. South Austin is downtown's
front door.
We just don't want to
become
downtown.
Yipes! Our Last
Line of Defense--the Bridge and the Bat!
All we have defending us
from downtown coming over the Colorado River is the Congress Street
Bridge and The Bats! The Bats are leaving soon and won't be back
for a while, and that leaves our total defense The Bridge!
The history of The South Austin Culture Club is putting the focus on
issues with an approach of humor and fun.
We've hosted luncheons with
elected officials such as the Austin City Council, state and federal
officials.
We produced the Billion Bubba March, and even got South Austin Wanna-be
John Kelso to make fun of us.
We helped save Town Lake Park with Town Lake Grand Openings I and II.
Working with
Austin and Central Corridor Neighborhoods and Association
The South Austin
Culture Club supports South Austin and Central Corridor Neighborhoods in
the big issues of today, and we'll be explaining the issues on this
website going forward.
If you have articles, rants, and announcements, contact us and we'll
publish them.
